MUSIC !!!

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Thursday, April 7th, 2016. Today is the 98th Day of 2016.

There are only 268 days left in this year; and, there are only 2 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

We will begin the Revival Meetings on Saturday, April 9th with a Banquet and Sermon at 6pm.

Sunday, April 10th, we will hear Bro Bobby at 10am and again at 6pm.

Monday and Tuesday, April 11th and 12, we will hear Bro Bobby at 7pm each night!

Please clear your schedule to attend as many of these meetings as possible.

As I often say, “The two things you have to invest to be blessed are your Attendance and your Attention!”

Please be in prayer for Dr. Bobby and Sandra Boyles as they travel here and back.

Pray that God will pour out HIS SPIRIT on us as never before!

Pray for the salvation of the lost; repentance and renewal in the life of God’s people; new people to become part of our Church Family; the calling out of ministers and missionaries; a spiritual awakening in our area; and, for Jesus Christ to be glorified in all that we do!

Psalm 150:1-6
1 “Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!
2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!
3 Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!
4 Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!
5 Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!”

It is impossible to underestimate the power of music in worship. God created us to worship and that is exactly why HE created music and singing.

Throughout the Word of God, and especially in the Psalms, we see over and over again that GOD is glorified in music and singing.

We are BLESSED with a godly man who is a GREAT worship leader.

We are BLESSED with MANY gifted musicians and singers among our Church Family.

Week after week we are BLESSED by their musical ministry to us.

You will be BLESSED by the music and singing at all 5 of these revival meetings.

We are going to worship in WORD and in MUSIC and with SINGING.

BUT, BUT, BUT… YOU have to be there to be BLESSED.

FIVE opportunities in FOUR days to be BLESSED.

I pray that you will sacrifice whatever it takes to be present at every service.

As Pastor Tom Rains, one of my dearest friends, loves to say… “I hope to see you there with a smile on your face, your Bible in your hand, and your family and friends by your side.”

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only TWO days!

TWO DAYS FROM TODAY SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH AT 6PM WE KICK OFF THE MEETINGS WITH “A MEAL AND A MESSAGE”

Revival CAN happen, it really CAN happen!

Will we really have revival?

Will you?

To Know Jesus Better

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Wednesday, April 6th, 2016. Today is the 97th Day of 2016.

There are only 269 days left in this year; and, there are only 3 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

Philippians 3:7-11
7 “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.”

Another simple question.

“What would give to know Jesus better?”

In this well-known and well-loved passage, Paul states clearly that all that he has given up (family, possessions, wealth, esteem, and even his health and safety) is a small price to pay or really knowing Jesus.

Paul is not speaking of casually knowing Jesus. HE met HIM face to face on the Damascus Road and then spent three years with HIM in the Desert.

Paul knew Jesus but he wanted to REALLY KNOW Jesus. Deeply, fully, completely. Paul wanted to know Jesus more and more and more.

Attending 5 meetings over 4 consecutive days is not an easy thing to do; but, this will be an opportunity to come to know more and more and more about Jesus and to come to know HIM more closely than ever before.

If you do not hunger for that, please check your heart rate… you may be dead.

Bobby will doubtless speak to us about many different things; but, in one way or another everything he will say to us will be about Jesus.

Do you want to know Jesus better, more closely, and more deeply?

5 meetings over 4 consecutive days.

Here is your opportunity.

I pray that you will sacrifice whatever it takes to be present at every service.

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only THREE days!

THREE DAYS FROM TODAY SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH AT 6PM WE KICK OFF THE MEETINGS WITH “A MEAL AND A MESSAGE”

Revival CAN happen, it really CAN happen!

Will we really have revival?

Will you?

The Great Commandments

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Tuesday, April 5th, 2016. Today is the 96th Day of 2016.

TODAY IS BECKIE RHOADES’ BIRTHDAY!

There are only 270 days left in this year; and, there are only 4 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

Luke 10:25-27
25 “And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?”
27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

I am absolutely convinced that there is no clearer indication of our need for revival than simply asking ourselves two simple questions:

Every Sunday we publicly confess that, “We exist to live out the Great Commandments…”

The two simple questions we face are…

Do we love the LORD our God with all of our heart and all of our soul and with all of our strength and with all of our mind?

And, do we love our neighbor as we love ourselves?

I believe that even a casual examination of my life as well as the lives of many of us will show that we are, in fact, not “Carrying out the Great Commandments.”

If we are indeed blessed by a refreshing spirit of revival in our Church, this is the first area where the change will be seen.

Revival brings a new and deeper love for God and for others. Revival is simply moving back to where we should have always been and where we once were.

Again, every LORD’s Day we publicly confess that we live out the Great Commandments and carry out the Great Commission by loving God, loving People, and Sharing the Good News.”

Do we really love God with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind?

Do we love other people?

Are we faithfully sharing the Good News?

If not, I (and we) need revival.

Revival CAN happen, but, it will not happen if we are not present to be revived.

I pray that you will sacrifice whatever it takes to be present at every service.

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only FOUR days!

FOUR DAYS FROM TODAY SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH AT 6PM WE KICK OFF THE MEETINGS WITH “A MEAL AND A MESSAGE”

Revival CAN happen, it really CAN happen!

Salvation of the Lost

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Monday, April 4th 2016. Today is the 95th Day of 2016.

There are only 271 days left in this year; and, there are only 5 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

The effects of being “REVIVED” are exactly the same as being “Vived” (made alive) since the word “re-vive” simply means to “vive again.”

So, if we want to see the anticipated effects of revival, think back at what happened when the Church was new and fresh and fully alive in the Spirit

Acts 2:42-47
42 “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.
44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common.
45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.
46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

The NINTH thing that happens when God revives HIS people is the salvation of unsaved people.

“And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

I certainly agree that technically speaking, “Revival” is for believers, not unbelievers.

BUT, it is clear in this passage and in all of our Christian experience that when the people of God are refreshed and renewed unsaved family members and friends are impacted by that and God uses this to bring many of faith.

The salvation of the lost is the inescapable consequence of the reviving of the saved.

All of us have family and friends who do not know the LORD as their personal Savior and LORD. All of us who love the LORD desperately want to see them saved. One of the best ways to see that come to pass is for them to see God moving in our life.

People hunger for a real experience with a real God. When they see HIM at work in the lives of HIS people, they often realize that if HE is at work in them; HE can also work in them.

Don’t miss these opportunities for God to work in your life. Who knows how God may use you in HIS continuing Kingdom work.

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only FIVE days!

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Saturday, April 2nd 2016. Today is the 93rd Day of 2016.

There are only 273 days left in this year; and, there are only 7 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

The EIGHTH thing that happens when God revives HIS people is that HIS people find favor with those outside the Kingdom.

Contrary to what many church folk seem to think, it is not a mark of spirituality to be hated by non-believers.

When the non-believers saw the joy, the change, the oneness, and the selfless sacrifice demonstrated in the lives of God’s people, the Bible says they had favor with all of the people.

Favor.

We are commanded to love our neighbors. Our neighbors know if we love them or not.

If we love others, they will know it and they will have a favorable impression of us and the LORD we say we follow.

I don’t think I could ever summon the nerve to do it, but I would love to read an honest evaluation of our Church by the unchurched people in our area.

Note that I said “unchurched”. It is a sad fact – but true – that the people who dislike church people most are the people who attend “other” churches in our area.

I am thankful that I have not heard many ugly things said about our church over the nine years I have served here; but, I have heard some from a handful of people. AND, as I said, every time I heard real ugliness it was spoken by someone in one of the other churches in our area.

I realize that one of the things that happens when a church is growing is that some people move to one church from another church. That almost always causes hard feelings in the church they left.

BUT, that is only a few people.

If we do experience revival and the people in our area see the moving of God in our lives and see our genuine love for them, they will esteem us highly.

Favor. It will open many doors to share the gospel.

Praise!

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Friday, April 1st 2016. Today is the 92nd Day of 2016.

TODAY IS CORY & LESLIE SCHULTZ’s ANNIVERSARY

There are only 274 days left in this year; and, there are only 8 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

The SEVENTH thing that happens when God revives HIS people is that God is praised.

For those of us who love the LORD will all of our heart, mind, strength, and soul, there is nothing we desire more than to see God glorified in our life, our family, and our Church.

When these newly “vived” believers in Jerusalem were being transformed by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT living within them, God was glorified both among them and among outsiders who witnessed what was going on in their lives.

I believe the exact same thing will be true of newly “revived” believers. I know that a sense of refreshing and renewal in our lives will bring a new sense of the glory of God to us. That renewed sense of the glory of God – in and of itself – will bring a great change in our attitudes, desires, and lifestyle.

God is glorious. HE desires that we demonstrate HIS glory in our life; for our good, and for the good of others who have not yet come to know him.

Revival can happen; it really can happen; BOTH to and for the glory of God.

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only EIGHT days!

Sacrifice

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Thursday, March 31st 2016. Today is the 91st Day of 2016.

There are only 275 days left in this year; and, there are only 9 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

The sixth thing that happens when God revives HIS people is sacrificial living.

This is not a model for “communal” living. They were under sever persecution and they were about to be driven from Jerusalem. God led them to sell what they had which enabled them to survive the dispersion they suffered within months of these events.

But, in spite of the fact that we do not need to sell everything we have, we do need to be willing to sacrifice what we have for the LORD’s work and for HIS people when HE leads us to do so.

This is, of course, what a family does for one another. And God’s church is HIS Faith Family on earth.

Sacrificial love for one another is a result of genuine love and genuine love is rekindled by God’s Spirit when HE is not merely present in a believer but when HE is preeminent in the believer.

As amazing as this seems, this can be the normal life of a Spirit-filled, refreshed and revived Christian.

Revival can happen.

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only NINE days!

Get ready now… set aside the time now… Start praying now… DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY to experience a great moving of God!

Revival CAN happen, it really CAN happen!

Unity!

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Wednesday, March 20th 2016. Today is the 90th Day of 2016.

Today is Diane Sellers Birthday!

There are only 276 days left in this year; and, there are only 10 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

The fifth thing that happens when God revives HIS people is that HE renews their PASSION for UNITY:

(2:44) “And all who believed were together and had all things in common.”

A genuine moving of the HOLY SPIRIT will bring a genuine sense of UNITY to the people of God.

There is a real difference between a “crowd” and a “congregation.” A crowd is simply several people in the same place at the same time; whereas, a “congregation” is a group of people gathered in a place to accomplish an agreed upon purpose.

Our agreed upon purpose is clear… to live out the Great Commandments and carry out the Great Commission by loving God, loving people, and sharing the Good News.

To “have all things in common” means that we see ourselves as family. Whatever we have is available to the LORD and HIS Kingdom work as HE sees fit to use it.

If there is any area where most churches need revival it is in this area.

The old story of “The Three Musketeers” illustrates the point. If there is ONE thing that people remember about these three, it is their motto: “All for One and One for All.”

A revived, refreshed, renewed, and revived Church will have that same sense of shared purpose and shared sacrifice.

May God grant us such a spirit of UNITY!

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only TEN days!

Get ready now… set aside the time now… Start praying now… DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY to experience a great moving of God!

Revival CAN happen, it really CAN happen!

Sermon Starter for Sunday, April 3rd, 2016

Sermon Starter for Sunday, April 3rd, 2016

Ephesians 3:14 – 21
14  For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
15  from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
16  that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
17  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18  may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19  and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20  Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
21  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Paul’s Prayer that the Ephesians would both Know and Glorify God

One of the great insights we obtain from the writings of the Apostle Paul is his ministry as a Church Planting Pastor. His letters clearly reflect his love for the members of the Churches he planted.

As does any good Pastor, Paul often prays for these people and he lets them know that he is praying for them and he often shares his actual prayers with them.

This is the situation we find in our passage for this coming Sunday. Paul prays that they will know God and glorify HIM in their life.

He mentions two specific things about their knowledge of God. First, he prays that they will know HIM intellectually; and, second, he prays that they will “know” HIM experientially.

This is what many call “head” knowledge and “heart” knowledge. Often we hear how one is superior to the other, but Paul prays that the Ephesians may have both head and heart knowledge of God.

He also prays that they will glorify God. He prays this first of all for the good of God, but he also prays this because it is also good for them.

Paul gives them – and us – the picture of bowing his knees before a King, yes; but this King is also their Heavenly Father.

Both aspects of God are important to our prayer life. We do come to HIM as King of Kings, the almighty God Who can do anything… but, we also come to HIM as a child comes to his loving Father.

Paul reminds them – and us – that the HOLY SPIRIT indwells every believer and the HOLY SPIRIT is God in us and with us. HE is the source of our spiritual life and our spiritual strength.

Paul prays that God will be glorified in HIS Church. Do we pray that way? Is God glorified in our Church?

This coming LORD’s Day we will be ONE WEEK away from the beginning of our Spring Revival meetings. My prayer for all of us is that God will be glorified in this Church today and every day.

I hope to see you Sunday with a smile on your face, your Bible in your hand, and your family and friends by your side…

“Ecclesia Reformata, Et Semper Reformata…”

To the glory of God.

Prayer and Revival

A Word from THE WORD

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Tuesday, March 29th 2016. Today is the 89th Day of 2016.

TODAY IS KAIDEN MORFEY’S BIRTHDAY

TODAY IS ASHLEY PRIEST’S BIRTHDAY

On this day in 1788, Charles Wesley who founded the Methodist Church along with his brother John, died in London. He was 81 years old.

There are only 277 days left in this year; and, there are only 11 Days Left until Our Spring Revival Meetings Begin!

The fourth thing that happens when God revives HIS people is that HE renews their PASSION for prayer:

“and prayers…”

I have covered this aspect of revival several times before, so I will not go into great detail today.

Prayer, prayer, prayer, and more prayer. Prayer is the most effective tool that God has given HIS people. I am sure that is why the world, our flesh, and the Devil fight against our prayer time and prayer life more than anything else in our Christian experience.

As I mentioned several weeks ago, George Mueller of Bristol, England is famous for saying, “Prayer can do anything God can do, and God can do anything.”

If all we ever learned about prayer was that one sentence, we would be on our way to a life-changing revival.

God is glorified in answering the prayers of HIS people.

Let’s pray. Let’s pray together. Let’s pray together for revival.

REMEMBER: Our Revival Meetings begin in only ELEVEN days!

Get ready now… set aside the time now… Start praying now… DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY to experience a great moving of God!

Revival CAN happen, it really CAN happen!

Will we really have revival?

Will you?

Carpe Diem!
