Lanny Faulkner served as the Pastor-Teacher and Chairman of Elders of the First Baptist Church of Atwood, Illinois from April, 2007 to July, 2020. He and his wife, Lin, who passed away in February of 2015, had been married for forty-three years and they have three adult children, all of whom are married, and six grandchildren.

He served eight years in the Air Force and is a Viet Nam Veteran. He is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University, Covington Seminary, and in 1993 he earned a Ph.D. in Theological Studies from Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport.

He previously pastored churches in Georgia, Arkansas, and Waukegan Illinois. From 1994 until 2010, he served as the Associational Missionary for Central Baptist Association in Decatur, IL, and during that time he served as the Interim Pastor of eight Southern Baptist Churches in Central Illinois.

On July 31st, 2020, he retired as the Pastor-Teacher of FBC Atwood and then served for eighteen months as the Associational Mission Strategist for Central Baptist Association in Decatur, Illinois. Since July of 2022, he has served as the Transition Pastor of Summit Fellowship in Decatur.
