“THE NAMES OF GOD, PART 3 – THE NAMES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!”
INTRODUCTION:
The HOLY SPIRIT is GOD!
Acts 5:3-4
(3) “But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? (4) While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
“Holy” Hebrew – kadosh “Other” or “set apart”
Greek – Hagios “pure”
“Spirit” Hebrew – ruach “breath” or “wind”
Greek – pneuma “breath”
The HOLY SPIRT is a Person!
** The HOLY SPIRIT is described with personal pronouns!
“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.” John 15:26
** The HOLY SPIRIT has personal feelings!
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30
The HOLY SPIRIT is the THIRD Person of the Trinity!
The HOLY SPIRIT is revealed by several names in both the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible:

In our text for today, the HOLY SPIRIT is called, “Another Helper.”
Theological Note: “another” in this passage is the Greek word “allos” which means “another of the same kind!”
In our text for today, the HOLY SPIRIT is called, “the Spirit of Truth.”

It is likely that John is referring to the Holy Spirit when he sees, “The Seven Spirits” in Revelation 1:4.
This is likely a reference to Isaiah 7:2 “And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”
