UNDERSTANDING JESUS SERMON #15                                             

“JESUS IS SAVING SINNERS AND SERVING HIS PEOPLE AS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST!”

INTRODUCTION:

1. Over the past few weeks, we have considered “Who Jesus is!”

2. Then we also considered “What Jesus did!”

3. In a couple of weeks, (as the LORD allows) we will consider “What Jesus is going to do in the future!”

4. This morning, I want us to think about “What Jesus is doing now!”

5. Right now, June 25^th, 2023, “JESUS IS SAVING SINNERS AND SERVING HIS PEOPLE AS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST!”

EXPOSITION:

FIRST, JESUS IS SAVING SINNERS!

Very soon after creating the world, JESUS shed the blood of an innocent animal and saved Adam and Eve from the ultimate judgment of their sin!

Genesis 3:21 “And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.”

For the next 4,000 years, JESUS saved a multitude of sinners who repented of their sins and trusted HIS promise of a coming Messiah!

Joel 2:32a “And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

2,000 years ago, JESUS OF NAZARETH came to this earth, lived a sinless life, and died on a cross to pay for the sins of everyone everywhere who turn away from their sins and believe in HIM as their Savior and LORD!

Romans 3:23-26

(23) “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,    (24) and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, (25) whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. (26) It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

And here today, and on every day until HE returns, JESUS will forgive the sins, change the life, and someday take to Heaven anyone anywhere and everyone everywhere who turn away from their sins and believe on HIM as their Savior and LORD!

Romans 10:8-13

(8) “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); (9) because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (11) For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

(12) For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. (13) For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

SECOND, JESUS IS SERVING HIS PEOPLE AS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST!

Hebrews 4:14-16

(14) JESUS, THE SON OF GOD is our Great High Priest!

“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

(15) JESUS, OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST WAS MADE LIKE US AND TRULY KNOWS OUR WEAKNESS AND OUR NEEDS!

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

(16) BECAUSE JESUS, THE SON OF GOD IS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST WE CAN COME BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD TO RECEIVE MERCY AND FIND GRACE IN OUR TIME OF NEED!

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
