Encountering Christ – Seeing God

ENCOUNTERING CHRIST

Good Morning Happy Church,

Today is Wednesday, June 15th, 2016. Today is the 167th Day of 2016.

Today is Shana Bailliez’ Birthday

There are only 199 days left in this year; and, there are only 4 days left until FATHER’S DAY, AND ONLY 32 DAYS left until VBS BEGINS,

There are only 193 days left until CHRISTMAS

ENCOUNTERING CHRIST IN THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT

Matthew 5:8
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

The greatest blessing of the Christian faith is encountering Jesus Christ HE is the sum and substance of Christianity. It is in encountering HIM and knowing HIM and coming to know HIM more and more fully that the Bible Believer is transformed to be more and more like HIM.

Truly, we encounter Jesus in all of scripture

We clearly see HIM and hear HIS heart in these verses…

In Matthew 5:8, HE tells HIS Sheep how we can “see God.”

When we think about heaven, we are tempted to make ourselves the focus. (Surprise, surprise). HE is, of course, the proper focus.

In many of the world’s false religions, people seek to encounter God in some way, only to find that the “god” they encounter is themselves.

There is One True and Living God and HE is the God of the Christian Bible. HE is Jesus of Nazareth, the Second Person of the divine Trinity.

Yes, we do want to “see” God.

How?

When we repent of our sins, and trust Jesus as our Savior and LORD, our sins are placed on HIM and HIS perfect righteousness is placed on us. (2nd Corinthians 5:21)

Thereby, we are made righteous. This is the one and only way that humans become “pure in heart” and the only way we can meet God’s conditions to “see” HIM.

In Matthew 5:8, we encounter the righteous Jesus. After we repent and believe in HIM, our heart is made pure.

If we know HIM, either following our death or at the time of HIS return, we will “see God.”

Do not miss the opportunity for Mid-Week Prayer and Bible Study Wednesdays from 6:30 8:00pm. We are studying the Second Coming of Jesus and the events that follow into the Eternal State.

The lesson for the next time we meet, NEXT Wednesday evening, June 22nd, is “THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH”.

There will be no classes on June 8th and 15th while I am on vacation.

Each Wednesday will feature a stand-alone lesson, so even if you can’t make them all; be sure you catch as many of these lessons as you can.

Carpe Diem!
